Intensive Outpatient Psych Program Specialist/Driver

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • The Program Specialist/Driver facilitates patient transportation with facility vehicle and maintains safe driving skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provides customer service in an ethical manner, treats all customers with dignity, respect, courtesy and compassion.
  • Works cooperating with team members to reach patient care goals.
  • Maintains and supports a safe and compliant environment.
  • Secures and reports any unsafe or hazardous item/material to Director of Outpatient.
  • Complies with all hospital, federal, Medicare,/Medicaid, state standards, policies and rules.
  • Demonstrates and completes Core Competencies training in dealing with difficult patients such as CPI, Restraint Training, CPR, age specific training and other training required.
  • Attends monthly unit and other required meetings.
  • Resolves patient complaints immediately, if possible, and reports complaint and outcome to patient satisfaction representative.
  • Supports Quality Improvement, culture and is committed to key constituent satisfaction.
  • Participates in performance of improvement activities and ensures important processes and activities are measured accesses and improved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in an independent and timely manner.
  • Attends, participates in and encourages patient participate in all scheduled activities.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). Weighs patients monthly.
  • Takes patient’s vital signs weekly.
  • Maintains, in cooperation with other team members, program structure and actively participates in treatment planning process.
  • Participates in proactive monitoring maintenance and cleanliness of facility vehicle.
  • Reports and damage to vehicle to Transportation Manager.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least two years experience in a psychiatric setting or a college degree in a mental health related field.
  • Sufficient experience in working with mentally ill persons, addicted persons or in providing personal care services.
  • LA Chauffer's License (or Equivalent per DMV), Crisis Response Training, CPR
  • Ability to assist persons over 200 pounds with Entrance/Egress from van, as well as assist same with ADLs.
  • Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
  • Requires emotional stability and resilience.
  • Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
  • Shows ability to gain and maintain support and respect.
  • Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing and walking.
  • Bending, stooping, and lifting are minimal.
  • The work environment may be physically confining.
  • Visual acuity required for a variety of activities.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
