Summary

The Programmer prepares detailed working diagrams, including dimensions, fastening methods and other engineering information. This position is responsible for ensuring all work is done on time and supports the achievement of established sales and financial objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Develops detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting equipment.

2. Coordinates with and consults other employees to design, layout or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.

3. Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

4. Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.

5. Positions instructions and comments onto drawings.

6. Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

7. Designs scale or full-size blueprints.

8. Checks dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.

9. Lays out and draws schematic, orthographic or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems and machines.

10. Confers with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.

11. As required, visits field to verify dimensions and designs. Meets with owner or representative to determine requirements, coaching the owner/rep through the discussion to glean all the information needed. Creates a preliminary design and takes it back to the customer for approval or revision.

12. Performs all other duties as requested

Education and/or Experience

  • Three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following

· CAD software, Database software, Internet software, Accounting software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· Driver’s license to travel to various locations and job sites, or be able to provide own transportation.
