ABOUT OUR HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM

Healthy Families Central Middlesex is an intensive weekly home visiting program for first-time parents 23 years of age and younger providing family advocacy and parental coaching. Family Support Advocates are trained by Children's Trust and are employed by Jewish Family and Children's Service located in Waltham. The program goals are to prevent child abuse and neglect, support health and development of children, assist with parental education and economic self-sufficiency, promote optimal parental health and wellness, and reduce repeat teen pregnancies. Our teamwork, training and work with families is currently being conducted with a combination of in-person home visits and virtually through Zoom, FaceTime, and WhatsApp.

Healthy Families Central Middlesex provides home based service in the cities and towns of Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Boxborough, Burlington, Cambridge, Carlisle, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Needham, Newton, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Weston, Wilmington, Winchester, and Woburn.

ABOUT YOU

As the Program Supervisor you will be part of the leadership team and will support the staff in their work with young families. We are looking for a candidate who is collaborative, supportive to their colleagues and partner with those they oversee, rather than a traditional command and control management style. The Healthy Family Team is very much rooted in a collaborative approach to teamwork, support and reflective feedback. Strong organizational skills are a must.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • The Program Supervisor roles is a full-time position of 36.25 hours per week.
  • The hourly rate of pay is $31.
  • This position is hybrid where your schedule will include time in our Waltham office and working from home.

Your workday will include:

  • Provide weekly reflective supervision sessions (both clinical and administrative supervision) for family support advocates (up to 5).
  • Foster mutual respect and camaraderie among all staff.
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure high quality service delivery which meets the needs of families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Provide timely support and oversite of all service documentation, both paper and electronic forms and all entries into a web-based data system.
  • Manage and oversee the planning, development, and implementation of the program's required annual groups for young parents.
  • Network with community agencies to provide appropriate referrals and connections for children and families. Promote community awareness regarding our program's services through outreach and networking while advocating for identified needs of participant families.
  • Act as liaison between collaborating community agencies and groups as appropriate.
  • As a key member of the leadership team, collaborate with the Program Coordinator in developing and implementing staff training and collecting and analyzing program monitoring data to meet Healthy Families America standards.
  • Perform other reasonable duties requested by Program Coordinator. Follow all agency policies and procedures.

Educational, Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required with 3-years relevant experience, MSW or Advanced Degree preferred
  • Experience in home visiting with families is preferred, but not essential, with focus on prevention strategies for children 0-3.
  • Knowledge of infant/child development and parent- child relationships, maternal/paternal-infant health and the impact of child abuse and neglect, and understanding of a strength-based model
  • Experience with providing supervision including reflective practice, team building, staff motivation and support in a stressful work environment, and group facilitation
  • Experience working and collaborating in a multicultural environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of community resources helpful
  • Proficiency in another language would be an advantage but not essential to the role
  • Strong organizational skills essential
  • Strong writing and computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, outlook, power point) essential
