By joining our Division of Motor Vehicle Licensing, Receiving Section as a Program Investigative Officer I in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct reviews and investigate to detect, document, and refer for possible administrative action and/or criminal prosecution, cases of fraud, abuse, and other misconduct by cabinet clients, employees, providers, contractors and/or vendors.

Holders of the Program Investigative Officer I position will complete tasks such as:
  • Navigate AVIS (Automated Vehicle Information System) /KAVIS (Kentucky Automated Vehicle Information System)
  • Learn Programs such as POD (Print On Demand Decal)
  • Hold future certification of NCIC and NMVTIS (National Crime Information Center and National Motor Vehicle Title Information System)
  • Maintain a working relationship with law enforcement and other agencies
  • Other duties as assigned
Holders of this job title will obtain:
  • Experience new programs
  • Opportunity to learn document examining skills
  • Ability to learn case dating, which allows other agencies to use for prosecution
  • Customer service skills

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of investigative, administrative, business, or social work/eligibility experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in the above fields will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above fields will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Typical working conditions include normal office work as well as field work. Travel throughout the state may be required to conduct interviews and to obtain information and evidence. Onsite reviews of material, interviews and surveillance may be required. Overnight travel and working irregular hours may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
