Job Summary:

The Vertex Program Manager will manage and oversee all day-to-day operations in support of the 19th Air Force, Pilot Training Transformation, and subordinate units (eg. 23 FTS). The PM will be the primary face-to-face interface with the customer on program execution, deliverables, schedule, performance, and potential contract modifications. The PM will supervise all site leads and ensure superb customer service and IT support. The Program Manager may support business development efforts via travel to trade shows, demonstrations, and proposal writing as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Ultimately responsible for contract execution, performance, cost, and schedule.
    • No cap bonus plan will be based on performance metrics
  • Oversee on-site operations at Ft Rucker and subsequent locations (MPMR expansion, etc) in support of a complex project with multiple on-site support personnel
    • Managing the installation and execution of VR Training Devices supporting flight training
    • Coordinate all logistics/requirements with gov for installation within gov spaces
    • Manage customer relationships and expectations
    • Work with Vertex Business Unit Lead to interview and hire staff required
    • Oversee parts inventory, shipping, and receiving, etc
  • Coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget, and inform management in a timely manner of variances from the plan
    • Develop and maintain an accurate risk tracking document with an associated mitigation plan
    • Develop a process for regular gathering and coordination of student feedback with Government stakeholders and Vertex developers
  • Schedule/Organize/Attend progress meetings with Government stakeholders, site managers, and Vertex senior management, taking appropriate actions when necessary

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will have multiple direct and indirect reports as required to meet contract requirements.

Work Environment:
This job operates from an office environment and may be executed remotely.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the core work hours of 0800 - 1700. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:
5% - 10% travel is anticipated for this position to support business development efforts and to attend and participate in trade shows.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution; Master s degree a plus
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs within or for the DoD
  • Fundamental understanding of Accounting and Finance as related to Program Management
  • Ability to independently interface with customers, key company partners, and other project stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical work environment

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • VR simulation-based training experience
  • Aircrew formal instructor experience/familiarity with UPT or similar training technologies
  • Experience with integrated military, government, and civilian training simulation development and delivery
  • Active security clearance is a plus

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Background checks- criminal, civil, employment, and education required. Drug screening in compliance with drug-free workplace standards. Ability to obtain a federal government clearance when required for projects.
