Position Overview:

UWSELA in partnership with the New Orleans Mental Health Collaborative is seeking a Program Director to serve as lead staff and backbone for the New Orleans Mental Health Collaborative to ensure community and youth voices from trauma impacted communities are represented.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide overall professional support to the New Orleans Mental Health Collaborative, identifying potential participants, soliciting participation, coordinating meetings and agenda, guiding the results focused planning and implementation processes.

2. As the lead staff to the Collaborative, work collaboratively with the consultant and the Project Coordinator to develop the infrastructure/backbone support to the Collaborative. Sustain the collaborative effort including providing professional support and direction to the Co-chairs and steering team, ensure community and youth voices are represented in the collaborative, and provide collaborative participants with the resources necessary to make informed decisions.

3. Manage, direct, supervise, provide training, coaching and leadership to the Project Coordinator to support all program activities of the Mental Health Collaborative and the SAMSHA Recast Grant. Insure that the Project Coordinator has an annual work-plan and a formal performance evaluation.

4. Facilitate local community outcomes based planning and implementation of the Collaborative; develop working groups around the identified strategies and facilitate the evaluation and assessment of the Collaborative’s work.

5. Research Best practices and lift up local plans such as The Children & Youth Planning Board Youth Master Plan and the New Orleans Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) solutions and strategies.

6. Plan for and conduct a community needs and resource assessment that leads to the development of a community wide strategic plan that outlines a common vision, goals and strategies to ensure a cohesive continuum of care for New Orleans residents, especially youth and their families.

7. Provide for training in trauma-informed care interventions and approaches.

8. Lead the implementation of the goals and objectives of the SAMSHA ReCast Grant including the following:

  • Develop and implementation of a strategic plan for a comprehensive and coordinated trauma-informed behavioral health system lead by community stakeholders.
  • Expand trauma-informed behavioral health service capacity to serve high-risk youth and families.
  • Increase the number of people who work with young people and receive training in trauma-informed care interventions and approaches.
  • Expand trained peer supports for youth dealing with community violence and trauma.
  • Develop contracts for all sub-grant awardees and partners.

9. Convene funders, public and private, to develop a team of committed funding partners.

10. Develop requests for proposals and/or grant partnerships to support collaborative outcomes.

11. Provide information to Marketing to assist in their communications support to the Collaborative.

12. Identify policy issues from collaboration to advocate.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree in the human services, planning, research, or community development fields or a Bachelor’s degree combined with a minimum of 3 additional years of service delivery, related research and analysis experience.

2. Minimum of five years of experience in collaboration building, community investment, or other human services, two years of which have been in an administrative, supervisory, coalition building capacity.

3. Must have a strong personal commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate, build, and continuously strengthen partnerships with a diverse population.

5. Exceptional reasoning and problem solving, including an ability to translate ideas and concepts into clear actionable items.

6. Demonstrated leadership capacity in situations demanding change and creative approaches.

7. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects on a systems level.

8. Strong analytical and summation skills – financial, proposal review, research, evaluation, planning - effective written and oral communication. Strong group facilitation skills and committee staffing.

9. Computer literate, able to utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
