The Camp Program Director position at Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming will get to explore three camp locations in the western United States. Each location is unique in nature and presents ample opportunity to explore the local areas. We begin in Red Lodge, MT at Timbercrest Camp which is at the base of the famous Beartooth Pass. After four weeks we move to historic Butte, MT where camp staff will have the ability to explore local mines and pan for sapphires. We finish the the season on top of Casper mountain in Wyoming at our largest camp property where counselors sleep in yurts and campers and counselors alike push their limits on the challenge course
Job Summary
The Program Director has the primary responsibilities of directing, delegating and supervising program activities. The Program Director assures mission compliance with physical, emotional and program needs of participants.
The Program Director establishes and maintains a safe community in which girls can feel comfortable to try new things and implements programs that allow them to lead and participate in progressively challenging activities.
The Program Director acts as program leader and instructor, ensuring that staff and campers have a safe, fun, positive, fulfilling, and educational summer camp experience that supports membership growth and retention. This position assists with ongoing staff development; promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Deliver a Safe and Fun program to campers
● Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas
● Support staff as a representative of the Leadership Team
● Coordinates the camper’s daily program activities including transporting groups to off-site field trips
● Assist in staff training and ongoing staff development
● Facilitate activities as needed
● Fill in as a Counselor as needed
● Other duties as assigned
Experience/Education
● High School diploma or the equivalent; one year camp program related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience
● Experience in various activities based in arts and crafts, nature and outdoor survival, and teambuilding
● Experience working with youth preferred
● Must have two years of licensed driving experience in order to transport girls
● Minimum of 18 years of age preferred
Environmental Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The environmental conditions result in access or very little access to cellular phone service, data, text, or internet.
