Description:
Emory Law is seeking a Program Coordinator for its Center for Civil Rights and Social Justice (CCRSJ) which was launched this year under the direction of Professor Darren Hutchinson. The Program Coordinator will facilitate the operations of the programs, affiliated faculty, and students so that the center can both fulfill its educational outcomes and community-oriented goals. The ideal candidate is a person passionate about legal education as well as the goals of the center. JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Designs, implements, and coordinates operational facets of a specific Law School program including program-related conferences, conventions and/or meetings.
  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
  • Identifies and pursues ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative procedures used by students and faculty.
  • Actively participates in committees pertaining to academic/programmatic services.
  • Serves as a liaison to and interacts with other groups and organizations participating in the program or seeking knowledge of the program.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding program requirements.
  • Advises students on matters related to the program; develops resources to address particular needs.
  • Provides direction, referral, and placement resources to students seeking employment opportunities in their respective field of study.
  • Develops promotional and communication materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
  • May assist in identifying funding resources and in developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports.
  • Maintains complete and accurate program records.
  • May maintain and update the departmental website.
  • May supervise program staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITINOAL JOB DETAILS:
  • Designs, implements, and coordinates operational facets including center-related conferences, webinars, symposia, colloquia, conventions, and/or meetings.
  • Supports unique programming with CCRSJ including the annual MLK Lecture.
  • Gathers relevant data to prepare and present monthly financial reporting on programmatic budgets with data provided by Emory Research Administrative Services (RAS) and Emory Law Finance.
  • Works with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at Emory University to bring scholars to the United States and Emory University.
  • Supports faculty affiliated with CCRSJ.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Outstanding data management, administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies to enhance task performance.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate and follow-through with minimal supervision as well as meet deadlines, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, be part of a collegial team and balance competing assignments.
  • Experience working in or demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Zoom, Outlook, Compass, and Canvas.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule based on business demand which will include nights and weekends.
  • Events planning background.
  • Experience in higher education, law firm, and/or public service agency.
