Job Description (Summary Objective)

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Program Coordinator will provide administrative and project management support to TMCF programming, majorly supporting the Boeing | TMCF partnership, and administrative support to Chief Programs Officer and Vice President of Talent Acquisition & Campus Relations. The coordinator will function as a primary support to the Senior Program Manager of the Boeing | TMCF grant program, calendar management, and any other initiatives or projects that are needed for TMCF programming. Responsibilities will be both operational and project based.

A successful candidate must have a natural aptitude for customer service, high energy, a deep commitment to the goals of the organization, a good eye for detail, and strong written and oral communication skills. Also, the candidate must be able to multitask, as well as be self-directed and motivated with a focus on driving programmatic growth.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following programmatic and operational functions:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of TMCF programs, majorly the Boeing HBCU Scholars Program, and their activities by overseeing implementation of program policies and practices, and work to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets.
  • Provide calendaring support to the Chief Programs Officer and Vice President of Talent Acquisition & Campus Relations, by scheduling meetings, drafting correspondence, and preparing materials in advance of meetings.
  • Develop regular communication with college and university staff, TMCF Coordinators, student population, potential students, scholarship recipients, related to recruiting and other Boeing programmatic opportunities.
  • Manage and respond to requests from students and universities with regard to programmatic initiatives.
  • Independently maintain up to date contact information on member school deans, faculty, and staff.
  • Support the onboarding of incoming scholars, managing program agreements and W9s for signature in the online signature platform.
  • Maintain a current listing of student information for each HBCU Scholars cohort, immersive experience, and regional and tech hub participants.
  • Coordinate scholarship awards disbursement process with scholarship team, monitoring status of disbursement in internal Finance systems.
  • Provide project management support for Programmatic event logistics with internal cross-functional partners.
  • Develop post event assessments and statistics for all programmatic activity with TMCF insights team
  • Build and maintain a system for capturing student and programmatic data for annual reporting
  • Assist Sr. Program Manager with development and revisions for internal and external presentations
  • Lead scheduling of touch points with students before and during internship experiences.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings with Boeing and TMCF staff and outside vendors as needed. Arrange travel for program consultants and staff, as needed.
  • Participate in TMCF sponsored events such as bootcamps, pitch competitions, immersions, and Leadership Institute.

Special Demands

  • Travel required: 50% (Seasonal and project/event based)

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2-3 year of demonstrated work experience
  • A proficient level of knowledge in Microsoft Office/Google Suite applications
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to manage multiple requests and projects from multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to drive projects with limited direction and resources
  • Critical thinking and a keen attention to detail related to assigned projects
  • Ability to operate through unexpected change while maintaining focus and driving toward project goals
  • Proactive nature with the ability to operate independently on day-to-day projects, address challenges, and successfully and accurately complete projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multi-faceted projects.

This position is exclusively funded by a grant from our employer partner Boeing. As a consequence, continued employment, disbursement of salary, and any related employment benefits tied to this position, are at minimum, contingent upon the receipt of continued grant funding from Boeing."
