The Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work to ensure smooth operations throughout the food production and distribution life of a given product, to meet customer delivery requirements and to best utilize the company's productive capacity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensure production schedules meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company's productive capacity.
  • Create and maintain internal planning and scheduling for entire plant.
  • Analyze work order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinate with warehousing and purchasing to use product within the time constraints of its shelf life.
  • Have a good relationship with the culinary distribution centers we service and ensure they get everything they order in full.
  • Ensure everything is being made in time for production to run and communicate when issues arise.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
  • Act on termination or cancellation requests from depots and maintain inventory levels accordingly.
  • Work hand in hand with Purchasing on shorts and lead times for items brought in.
  • Run daily reports for demand and work completed.
  • Learn purchasing and relieve team when time off is needed.
  • Coordinate with nutrition on subs and necessary changes.
  • Communicate with all departments as see fit on a daily basis.
  • Make contingency plans when things come up that hinders production.
  • Report out schedule changes to other departments for holidays and days off.
  • Perform other incidental and/or related duties as required and/or assigned.

Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is performed primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • The work is performed secondarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Requirements:

Education and Certification

  • Associate Degree required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in business management systems such as X3 and SAP.

Other Qualifications and Experience

  • 5 years' experience in food production planning and scheduling.
  • 2 years management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, passion for results and attention to detail.
