Our Production Planners earn a pay range of $21.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience. An experienced Production Planner at Peterson will plan, schedule, and organize work for the production of heavy equipment and parts sales work orders in a growing manufacturing environment using Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system. Coordinate between engineering, material control, purchasing, and other departments as needed to achieve optimum utilization of resources in meeting production schedules and customer demand. Generate production plans, production reports, collect data, and make plans for efficient and timely production of whole goods requests, parts, and assemblies to achieve optimum production and throughput times to satisfy customer orders and company forecasts.

Our Day shift is M-F 7:00am - 4:00pm.

What You'll Do:
  • Responsible for creating a production schedule using the ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, as well as providing regular reporting on manufacturing status.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance in order to schedule production activities utilizing information derived from ERP systems.
  • Coordinate with staff Engineers and production to sequence manufacturing, assembly, and installation thereby actively managing the production schedule.
  • In an accurate and timely fashion, monitor, maintain, and release work to production departments to meet customer and unscheduled demand for parts orders, inventory, manufacture, and assembly.
  • Coordinate with various departments as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding correction of errors, engineering change orders, labor cost variances, and establishing routing standards on manufactured parts.
  • Manage and process SigmaNest tasks through AX software.
  • Collect data on shortages for production, parts sales, and service by determining availability through purchasing or manufacturing as well as ensure shortages are kept current and provide timely feedback on statuses.
  • Responsible for requisitioning material required to manufacture products. This work includes the following of the components required for new products.
  • Provide input to Production Control Supervisor regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, back logs and the like.
  • Cooperate with all departments to control and monitor standard operating procedures.
  • Data entries include but are not limited to:
  • Work in process – keeps issues current in Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system.
  • Historical record keeping – sets up serial history files.
  • Production parts organization for B.O.M.’s (bills of material).
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

What We Need from You:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing, a related field or equivalent and/or combination of training and experience.
  • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or lean manufacturing certification or experience desirable
  • 2+ years’ experience as a production planning/scheduling in a heavy equipment or like fast paced manufacturing environment or demonstrated abilities through experience and/or education.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing parts inventory for heavy equipment.
  • Experience using an ERP or MRP software package is a plus.
  • Experience with CAM software (SigmaNest, MasterCAM, etc) is a plus.
  • Year experience with CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc) is a plus.
  • Intermediate to Advance Excel Skills (Importing/Exporting, Pivot Tables, Sorting, ETC.)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and bills of material (BOM’s).
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
