Summary:

The Production Operator follows HACCP and proper GMPs; batches tanks, monitors evaporation and drying of product, helps with maintenance, cleans production area regularly, follows standard operating procedures, analyzes in-process product samples through HPLC, pH, and solids & moistures, and performs other production details as required by Production Supervisor or Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Batch fermentation tanks in accordance with provided recipes and procedures.

· Clean fermentation tanks in accordance with provided direction and standard operating procedures.

· Prepare batching sheets in the absence of the production supervisor.

· Monitor and record data for fermentation using a HPLC, pH and moisture analyzers.

· Execute the HACCP program by conduction and documenting daily/weekly checks of the facility quarterly and bi-yearly.

· Inoculate and monitor fermentations via the computer P&IDs and alert Plant Manager/supervisor of any identified problems. (e.g. checking PH, airflow, pressure, temperature, etc.)

· Observe visual ques on fermentation equipment for maintenance issues and alert maintenance of any potential issues.

· Conduct maintenance on equipment per guidance of Plant Manager/supervisor with assistance of maintenance personnel.

· Clean production area as needed and/or as prescribed by standard operating procedures and/or as directed by supervisor personnel.

· Ensure EPA/MSD compliance by monitoring the pH and completing necessary documentation for the plant waste containment discharge pit.

· Complete tasks as directed by supervisory personnel for accomplishment of the plant/company mission.

· Monitors Control processes during Evaporation and Dryer production and makes necessary adjustments.

· Monitors Evaporation and Dryer production runs by going out to production area and visually monitoring production.

· Troubleshoots and corrects problems during the production runs.

· Retreives samples from both evaporator and dryer, records findings, and makes adjustments based on the findings.

· Ensures a proper amount of Maltodextrin is added during the Evaporation process and completes documentation.

· Processes Super Sacks of finished products and documents all necessary information.

· Records all necessary information on the Evaporation Sheets and Drying logs.

· Use forklift as needed to load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks if warehouse employee is sick/as needed.

· Use forklift as needed to rearrange warehouse per guidance of the warehouse manager and/or supervisory personnel.

· Assemble, package, and load customer orders as needed.

· Clean warehouse as needed and/or as prescribed by standard operating procedures and/or as directed by supervisory personnel.

· While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to heat, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

· The noise level on site is very loud and hearing safety equipment must be utilized.

Physical Demands:

· Manufacturing/production facility.

· Required to talk and hear.

· Activity requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.

· Frequently lifting and moving items over 75 lbs.

· Clear vision is required – close up, distance, color, peripheral, depth and ability to adjust focus.
