Where the Chemistry Happens

As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF will establish a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF ECMS will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

We are seeking a professional like you to support the daily operation of Diesel Catalyst Coating at the Huntsville site. As a Production Engineer, you will be part of a team that provides technical support to a 24/7 catalyst production facility. You will drive process and occupational safety by adhering to all BASF safety rules and policies. You will be an integral part of optimizing the coating line processes by working with Operators and Technical support functions to identify and eliminate sources of scrap and quality issues, as well as finding ways to manufacture parts as efficiently as possible. You will work closely with other departments such as Process Engineering and Maintenance to communicate priorities and distribute information back to the shift teams. Greater than 60% of time will be spent on the manufacturing floor, working with Operators and Technicians from Coating, Slurry Prep and other departments. While the position does not have any direct reports, it is highly visible and will be viewed as leader and exemplary performer. This role may require occasional flex hours at times depending on plant requirements which could include nights and weekends. Teamwork is critical to achieving consistently high performance on all shifts.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

    Leveraging your education in an Engineering discipline and any previous professional experience you may have in a broad chemical or automotive plant environment; you will provide technical support to the production lines as a part of a 24/7 operation. Utilizing your effective communication skills and your ability to engage across the organization, you will document issues and provide supporting units with enough information to solve the problem. Reciprocally, supporting departments will depend on you as a technical point of contact within production and will rely on you to observe issues and implement changes as required. Your dedication to process safety will be a valued asset as you support EHS activities and processes, and lead or participate in investigations and corrective actions. Your proven organizational skills will be useful as you efficiently review production data to understand performance and make improvements. Displaying your commitment to LEAN methodologies, you will lead continuous improvement activities by fostering innovation and facilitating change that drives improvement. Your respect for the contributions of others will be relied upon as you train technical team members and support training processes with required technical subject matter as needed.
