Job title: Product Engineer

Full-time Exempt Non-Union

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to, performing testing as assigned, product & process development, production support, and writing brief reports
  • Responsible for applying the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve technical problems
  • Design new products and revise existing projects
  • Communicate with Engineers to detail the requirements of the project, as well as plan, consolidate, and prepare for the necessary steps to complete the project
  • Develop product design & development ideas based on customer requirements. Identify problems and create functional prototypes offering a solution
  • Perform market analysis on competing products/brands to proactively innovate existing product line and create custom products that provide competitive edge
  • Analyze feasibility, cost and return on investment for product ideas and process improvements, considering the budget requirements for projects
  • Perform quality checks on new parts and write detail reports using Change notices or First articles as tools
  • Run the necessary tests & record data using data acquisition tools to generate test reports
  • Develop new ideas/processes or revise current practices for a more efficient operation
  • Assists in the regulatory compliance, certification, and calibration processes
  • Coordinate with staff members in other departments as needed
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, and operating instructions.
  • Completes any required safety classes to applicable OSHA guidelines & occasionally lift/move up to 50lbs
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related.
  • 4-6 years of experience in an engineering environment
  • Previous experience using CAD (SolidWorks/CATIA/CREO), CAM software and testing using DAQ tools
  • Thorough understanding of BOM structures and efficient in an ERP environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe and related software
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or related field
  • Previous experience working with Cooking/Refrigeration appliances
  • Strong knowledge of the Food Equipment Industry and understand its market trends

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Working Conditions:

  • Temperature controlled environment indoors; office setting

  • Standing 5%/ Walking 5 %
  • Vision – The ability to see details at close range within a few feet of the observer
  • Ability to work a standard 40-hour work week, but overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines or quotas
