Modern Animal is on a mission to better the lives of animals by building a place that is better for all of us who love them. We're looking for a Procurement Manager to run all procurement related activities required to support our active clinics, and the construction of our new clinics.

Our ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and will be ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced & fun environment. The candidate will have experience working in retail-focused businesses and ample procurement or supply chain experience.

This role is based in Culver City, California and will require up to 40% travel both in state and out of state. This role will be expected to spend regular time in our clinics in order to develop expertise in the operational foundations of Modern Animal and build strong relationships with Clinic teams.

What you'll be working on:

  • Procurement of all veterinary medical equipment, medications, and supplies
  • Supplier management and RFP process management
  • Manage material master data for all inventory items in Modern Animal ERP system
  • In coordination with the Construction team manage the procurement of construction related equipment, fixtures, and furniture
  • Support the procurement needs, and the coordination of deliveries for all New Clinic Openings
  • Support ongoing inventory needs for all existing Modern Animal clinics, ensure clinic teams have proper education and tools to support the inventory management process
  • Manage the activities of 3PL partners, as well as the accuracy of off-site inventory data
  • Building process and structure around the in-clinic inventory management process
  • Define KPI's for a small team of procurement specialists
  • Forecast inventory consumption to inform purchasing behavior
  • Cost tracking and managing an inventory budget for each new clinic opening
  • Creating a robust list of alternatives for standard inventory items
  • Manages supplier performance and quality

Why you'd be a great fit (i.e. skills and qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree with a background in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Operations Management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management
  • Experience working with a broad array of vendors and distributors in the healthcare or veterinary industry is preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Analytical skill-set and focus on understanding and using data to drive decisions
  • Highly skilled Excel user that can organize and optimize large data sets
  • Hands-on, can do approach, with zero hesitation to jump into any situation necessary
  • SQL proficiency is a plus
  • ISM or APICS certification a plus

The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $152,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
