Process Operator and EHS Technician

Moss landing, CA / OPERATIONS / FULL-TIME

Verdagy is creating a new class of very large-scale hydrogen electrolyzers that will help decarbonize some of the most difficult to abate sectors of our global economy. Our approach is to design large modular skid-mounted hydrogen electrolyzers that will be used to architect very large-scale hydrogen production plants.

The Process Operator and EHS Technician position is ideally suited for someone who could operate our pilot plant facilities and help manage some of the plant EHS activities such as routine inspections and waste management. Ideally you will also have hands-on mechanical/maintenance/construction experience and can help with pilot plant pipe fitting repairs. During operation, the person will follow Standard Operating Procedures, and maintain and upgrade the plant as needed to accomplish the technology development. This person doesn’t necessarily have to have plant operations experience but does need to have the innate intelligence and learning capacity to safely and efficiently run the pilot plant with supervision. Based on the uniqueness of the technology and plant operations, the company will provide all necessary operations and EH&S training. The position requires the ability to make intelligent process decisions, and maintain safe work practices at all times.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Comply with environmental, health and safety standards

· Develop expertise in the Verdagy process

· Effectively work in a team environment to safely construct, operate and maintain plant equipment

· Use Standard Operating Procedures to start up and shut down the plant as needed

· Monitor process control loops and make adjustments to meet target parameters

· Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve potential plant hazards

· Perform and follow all preventative maintenance schedules

· Perform all tasks assigned to the Operations department including and not limited to; housekeeping, reporting of spills, waste management, etc.

· Measure material requirements and collect appropriate material and follow all inventory controls

· Collect and process chemical samples

· Implement plant design improvements

· Manage EHS inspection program and perform routine inspections

· Track hazardous waste inventory and coordinate waste pickups with third party vendor

PRIOR EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

· Health, safety, and environmentally conscious

· Previous plant operation and/or EH&S experience highly preferred

· Experience with pipefitting, construction tools, rigging, calibration techniques, instruments, and inspections

· Ability to read plant drawings including PFDs and P&IDs

· Highly collaborative spirit with strong team and interpersonal skills

· Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job as follows:

o Use safety equipment that is rated for a person who weighs 300 pounds or less

o Lift 55 lbs, climb stairs and ladders

o Work in confined spaces

o Wear all required personal protective equipment

o Stand 70% of the time

· Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

· Preferred: Associate's degree, Trade School, 2+ years in industrial operations or manufacturing setting
