Basic Job Functions:

The responsibilities of a Process Engineer at Nucor may include but are not limited to: developing and optimizing operating procedures and product development, leading quality improvement efforts/minimizing variability in the steelmaking process, developing grades for specialized applications, providing training to operating personnel and providing metallurgical assistance to technical service representatives and customers. Technical tasks include: mechanical testing, metallography, failure analysis, electron microscopy, and chemical analysis. Process Engineers may be involved in many areas of the Nucor operations. Quality, Sales, Melt Shop, Roll Mill, Hot Mill and Cold Mill are some of the specific areas of operation that Process Engineers may be assigned. Safety is an important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards to make safety the highest value at all times.

This Process Engineer will be located at a division in one of the following cities: Brandenburg, KY, Cofield, NC, Longview, TX, Charleston, SC, Blytheville, AR or Tuscaloosa, AL. By applying for this position, you will be considered for all locations.

Minimum Requirements:

• 4-year degree in Metallurgy, Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
• 5 years of working experience in one of the degree fields above
• Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to continue developing those leadership skills

Preferences:

• 1+ years industrial engineering experience
• Experience in relevant steelmaking processes
