Mott MacDonald’s infrastructure teams work on some of the most complex projects across the US, with a commitment to improve the communities and environments in which we operate. We are seeking an engineer with experience in structural design and planning of waterfront and offshore structures to lead and grow our marine structures team in the Northeast as part of our ports, coastal, and offshore (PCO) practice.

Based from our New York City office, you’ll be part of a team that develops port and harbor infrastructure, develops marinas, supports offshore wind development, restores and protects coastal areas and habitats, and improves coastal resiliency. Typical projects include harbor and marina infrastructure design, urban waterfronts, offshore wind power development, marine terminal planning and design, and waterfront structure inspection and condition assessment.

Working within the North American Ports practice and alongside our established PCO group, primary job responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical engineering analysis, design, and technical review of projects with a focus on marine structures in waterfront environments
  • Oversee the work of and mentor junior engineers
  • Assist with or lead the management of projects that may include engineering analysis, preliminary, and detailed design of marine structures
  • Write technical reports
  • Prepare cost estimating on projects during the design phase
  • Assist in business development activities, including preparation of proposals
Collaborate with Mott MacDonald practices across North America and abroad

Candidate Specification

To be considered for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years of structural engineering design experience in waterfront or offshore structures
  • Professional Engineer license in NY, or the ability to obtain through reciprocity
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation skill
  • Familiarity with industry standard analysis, design, and project management software (e.g. SAP 2000, AutoCAD, RISA, Revit, etc)

Salary Range: $175K-190k
