Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring a highly driven, talented and successful Principal Project Manager, to lead Rail/Transit Systems projects in the Northeast, and potentially other areas in the US, and help grow our business and team. We are looking for a strong leader to join our team; one who inspires loyalty and commitment and understands how to design and deliver leading edge Rail/Transit projects.

This position will report to the VP of the Strategic Projects, and requires a solid track record of leading engineers/designers and managing similar projects (traditional and design/build). You can be based in your home office or a Parsons office in NY, or NJ, and you will play a key role in pursuing and executing projects, managing teams, business development activities and be the primary interface to the client. The successful candidate will be an effective “seller/doer” who balances business development and project management responsibilities and office management for the team. Travel to Client or project site locations may be needed periodically.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors.
  • Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies, transit authorities and in public meetings in support of corporate and project goals.
  • Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
  • Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project, and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project. Assigns responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths. Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
  • Works with the key project individual to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work. Advises the client and company management of any such changes.
  • Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes. Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule. Establishes recurring meetings to review project status and formulate action items.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships with all employees, other discipline leads, clients, contractors and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of Engineering and Project/Program Management experience in the Rail/Transit market.
  • Experience designing and executing projects for Rail/Transit train control systems, Signaling systems, Rolling Stock, & Traction power systems preferred.
  • BS in Engineering is required. MBA/Masters degree preferred.
  • Proven track record managing regional clients in the NY/NJ/PA area is required.

Salary Range:

$136,200.00 - $245,200.00
