ABOUT THE POSITION

Although we're an apparel and footwear focused company, technology is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswear’s Digital Technology (CDT) teams enable an IT infrastructure across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. These teams support in-store, mobile, and data platforms to enhance customer interface and service in an ever-evolving industry.

As the Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you will drive the creation of how CSC develops and deploys production ML/AI models. You will determine model standards and develop process to ensure compliance with these patterns. You will be instrumental in the CSC’s ability to advance our ML processes and techniques into the future.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Architect systems to standardize and continuously deliver performant machine learning models
• Perform model training, hyperparameter tuning, and model parallelization/distribution to achieve high end performance and accuracy
• Develop Python libraries, functions, and other shared components that enable easier sharing of resources across data science teammates and machine learning models
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and product teams to convert MVP/R&D data science models into stable, maintainable production processes
• Collaborate with members of data science, data engineering, and operations to define standards and patterns for ML Operations

YOU ARE

• Able to envision a strategy, communicate and promote, and then dive in to help others achieve the vision

• An excellent communicator that can document and present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
• Highly structured with the ability to organize others around you
• A creative thought leader that is consultative in their approach

YOU HAVE

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in ML pipelines, ETL, data model processing
• 5+ years of experience developing in OOP environment (Python, Scala, C++, Java)
• 3+ years of experience deploying and productionizing ML applications
• 3+ years of experience with distributed programming frameworks (Databricks preferred)
• Proficient in machine/deep learning frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, etc)
• Proficient in machine learning lifecycle management framework (MLFlow preferred)
• Experience in container ecosystems (Kubernetes)
• Ability to diagram, articulate, and document data science and engineering concepts
