POSITION: PrincipalEames Way Elementary School STARTING DATE: July 1, 2023SALARY: To Be NegotiatedORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP OR LINE OF AUTHORITY: Directly responsible to the Superintendent of SchoolsQUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates a love of teaching and students. Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a leadership role with staff, students and families. Can communicate effectively, clearly and sensitively in writing and speaking. Promotes equity, inclusion and respect for the value of diversity.

Experience or training in the area of curriculum development and staff supervision and evaluation. Demonstration of being a lifelong learner. A commitment to working with the broader community for the benefit of all students. A valid Mass.

State License to practice as a principal for the elementary school grade level or immediately certifiable for such. Evidence of at least five (5) years of successful elementary level teaching experience. Evidence of at least three (3) years of successful elementary administrative experience preferred. The successful candidate must have strengths in relationship building, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking, while possessing the ability to reflect and move a school forward, using a growth mindset.RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The position of the elementary school principal demands creativity and strong communication skills. It requires the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and a community which desires to be involved in the education of its children.

The principal has direct responsibility for the following: 1. Serve as the instructional leader in the building, embracing and modeling best practices.2. Administer all aspects of the school operation.3. Nurture a positive culture for staff and students.4.

Foster and support the social and emotional health of students and staff. 5. Build strong relationships and effectively communicate with school and community stakeholders.6. Supervise and evaluate school staff, including assistance to all evaluations of staff.7.

Lead the recruiting, employment, screening, assigning and training of staff.8. Focus both on student achievement and social-emotional learning.9. Demonstrate a commitment to a PK-12 vision.10. Interpret the schools program to the community with emphasis upon enlisting the participation of the community in the schools culture.11.

Assist in ongoing improvement of the curriculum and effective instructional practices.12. Use data to inform decision-making in all aspects of the school.13. Advise and work with the central office on activities in the school and supervise the submission of required reports.14. Direct activities with respect to the budgetary/financial and custodial operations of the school.15.

Demonstrate a commitment to a PK-12 vision.16. Attend all meetings of the administrative staff and, when necessary, meetings of the School Committee.17. As necessary, within budgetary limitations, engage in professional development in efforts to remain informed and current related to the role of building principal.18. Accept additional responsibilities related to the position as directed by the Superintendent of Schools, School Committee policy and/or state statutes and regulations pursuant thereto.QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
