We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Cloud Engineer with expertise in the architecture, strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, experience with IoT/consumer products, and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. In addition, extensive cloud maintenance knowledge, experience leading an overseas development team, and advanced industry knowledge are essential to keep us on the cutting edge.

Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
  • Architect, develop, implement, and deploy serverless applications on the AWS platform, using services like IoT Core, S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Develop and maintain AWS serverless functions (Lambdas) using Typescript, and integrate them with other AWS services like S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Develop and maintain serverless APIs using API Gateway and Lambda, and ensure they are integrated with IoT Core, S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Implement real-time data processing and storage solutions for IoT applications using services like IoT Core, Kinesis, and S3.
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable data storage solutions using various AWS databases such as DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift, and integrate them with services like S3 and Kinesis.
  • Ensure the security and reliability of the backend architecture by implementing appropriate AWS services such as IAM, Cognito, KMS, and Cloudwatch.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot serverless applications using AWS services like Cloudwatch, and implement appropriate logging and error handling.
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in Typescript, using appropriate design patterns and coding practices, and ensure that it is integrated with other AWS services like S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Oversee 3rd party vendors who may be contracted to contribute to the project, ensuring that their work meets the project's technical standards and timelines.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, UX designers, and product managers to develop high-quality applications that meet business requirements.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate for this role will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms.
  • At least five years of experience as a software developer focusing on backend development using AWS cloud services.
  • Proven ability to work with and lead diverse offshore software development project teams.
  • Strong AWS services knowledge, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Aurora, Redshift, IoT Core, S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Hold an AWS certification relevant to the role, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified Developer - Associate.
  • Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics
  • Experience with the Serverless Framework and Typescript.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and code reviews.
  • Experience in designing and implementing serverless architectures that are scalable, reliable, and secure, using services like IoT Core, S3, Kinesis, and Cloudwatch.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working on a commercial IoT platform.
