We are a small family/employee owned and operate company with 6 locations.

At De Fer Coffee & Tea, we take food as seriously as we take our coffee and drinks. We focus on simple, yet delicious café food--and make as much of it in-house as possible. From baked goods, to granola, oatmeal, smoothies, waffles, paninis and beyond--we try to elevate common café fare using top quality, fresh ingredients, sourced locally when possible. We are looking for an aspiring cook or chef to help us prep and prepare food, develop new menu items and generally help wherever is needed around the café.

We are unique from a lot of cafes in that we also serve craft cocktails, wine and beer--so our kitchen team also has a lot of input into our seasonal cocktail and coffee menus as well. Must have experience cooking, ideally professionally--or at least be a very serious home cook. This position has potential to grow into a kitchen management position, with the possibility to lead the full food program and kitchen someday if the candidate excels. The main requirement beyond cooking experience and skill is just an extremely positive (and fun) attitude, and desire to work very hard to make the best café food in Pittsburgh. Hours are flexible, and generally fall between 7am and 9pm--so not many super early or super late nights.

Serious inquiries only--specialty coffee and/or bartending experience is a major plus too, as there will be opportunity to expand into those areas in the future as well if its a good fit.
