Job Summary:

We welcome you to join the Patient Access team as a Pre-Registration Coordinator. You will demonstrate excellent customer service skills by providing a patient friendly and pleasant pre-registration process to assure that patient and family needs are met in a timely manner. Responsible for accurate pre-registration of patient, communication of Olathe Health policies, financial responsibilities and Patient Rights and Responsibilities according to departmental operating procedures. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and EMTALA regulations and other regulatory agencies. Works under the supervision of the Centralized Scheduling Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School or GED Minimum
  • 1 - 3 Years Minimum
  • Previous Healthcare Experience Preferred
  • Computer Systems (specify)Data Entry, Scheduling software, Cerner (Minimum proficiency)
  • Assisting patient with their pre-registration needs. (Minimum proficiency)
  • Familiar with spelling of diagnosis and terminology (Minimum proficiency)
  • Copier, Fax, Computer system, multi-line telephone (Minimum proficiency)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work flow (Minimum proficiency)
  • professional telephone etiquette dealing with patients, physician offices and department members (Minimum proficiency)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows instructions and abides by organizational and departmental policies and procedures to help the department and organization consistently meet the goals established by management or the Board of Directors.
  • Respond promptly, accurately, and courteously to all written and phone inquiries received internally, from patients, attorneys, insurance companies, physician offices, etc. as applicable to the specific position.
  • Consistently recognizes what needs to be done first and takes the initiative to perform the task whenever possible while also recognizing situations that need to be reported to the appropriate management staff.
  • Consistently demonstrates reliability by reporting to work on time, working assigned shift, complying with lunch and break allowances per departmental policy and staffing needs.
  • Consistently provides advanced notification for scheduled PTO, and limits unscheduled absences by attending to personal affairs outside work times whenever possible to avoid productivity or other conflicts.
