JOB SUMMARY: We are looking to hire a Portfolio Associate that will be responsible for managing credit risk in the Community Lending Portfolio at Forbright Bank. The Portfolio Associate will assist the Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager with credit underwriting and general portfolio management to help minimize the risk of loss for the Bank.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with Relationship Managers to manage maturing loans and prepares loan renewal and modification approval write-ups to present to the Bank's credit committee.
  • Completes financial analysis for individuals and non-individuals to include an assessment of the borrower’s ability to service debt.
  • Prepares modification approval write-ups to present to the Bank's credit committee.
  • Formulates collateral analysis models by researching, summarizing, and analyzing comparable sales for real estate related transactions.
  • Assists with the department’s financial exception, covenant testing, maturity, construction portfolio and borrowing base monitoring processes, as needed.
  • Compile consumer due diligence (CDD), to include background searches (Google), on all Borrowers and Guarantors and document findings per procedure.
  • Completes annual risk ratings and reviews for assigned credits by performing financial analysis on the reporting provided by the borrowers and identifying the trends and developments which may impact loan performance and its risk rating.
  • Completes special projects and other duties on an as needed basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year accredited institution is required.
  • 0-3+ years of credit analysis and/or portfolio management experience with a commercial bank or commercial finance company.
  • A strong understanding of accounting and finance matters.
  • High proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Acute attention to detail with the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Exceptional attitude and commitment to teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Ability to perform the duties as described in this document.
