The Port Security Officer position is a full-time seasonal job from May through October located at the AJ Dock in the port of Juneau. This position is responsible for carrying out the security functions of a federally regulated port facility that accommodates cruise ships engaged in international trade. This position will work on a team of security professionals for the purposes of screening, monitoring, patrols and limited facility maintenance along with some customer service interaction with cruise ship guests.
It is Cruise Line Agencies of Alaska’s standard for personnel to be neat and clean in appearance, to be effective and efficient communicating in English, to have good organization skills, to display a positive work ethic, to be detail oriented and to relate well to customers.
Position Duties:
The duties of security personnel include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identification verification
- Screening of persons and their effects
- Screening of spares, stores and baggage
- Facility and ship monitoring
- Security patrols and site inspections
- Waterborne security patrols
- Operation of security equipment and monitoring devices
- Communicating by way of cell phone and VHF radio
- Port facility minor maintenance such as painting and pressure washing
- Restroom cleaning
- Landscaping including weeding and plant watering
- Log keeping
- Maintain professional appearance in uniform (clean) and in conduct
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S.
- Be of at least 18 years of age
- Able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Able to work outside on your feet for extended periods of time
- Physically able to screen persons, effects, and baggage
- Persons of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply (military or law enforcement background is not required)
- Must be able to comprehend regulatory requirements and instruction pertinent to a port security position
- Must be able to pass a federal background check for port security personnel
Wage Information and Schedule:
- Starting wage $16.00 or DOE, Entry level employees: $14.00
- Weekends, evenings, Full-time and Part-time positions
Relocation, Housing & Transportation are the responsibility of the employee.

Must reside in Juneau, Alaska or be able to relocate to Juneau, AK to start working by May 15th, 2023
