Assistant Director of Engineering

Function Statement / Summary of Duties:

The Assistant Dir. of Engineering is the lead for creating a continually welcoming and clean environment for members and guests to enjoy Worthington Pools. The Assistant Dir. of

Engineering works as a team with the General Manager and the Director of Engineering on various projects to improve the facility. The Assistant Dir. of Engineering collaborates with the

Director of Engineering monitoring water chemistry, establishing maintenance schedules and problem solving. The Assistant Dir. of Engineering is responsible for routine housekeeping and maintaining adequate supplies. The Assistant Dir. of Engineering is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility.

Essential Duties:

70% Responsible for maintaining an attractive and sanitary facility through routine housekeeping, deep cleaning routines, and maintaining adequate supplies.

30% Works in collaboration with the Director of Engineering monitoring water chemistry, facility maintenance and progressive problem solving for maintaining a welcoming and safe environment at Worthington Pools.

Job Functions:

1. Cleans facility to maintain sanitary and safe conditions.

2. Assists in monitoring proper water chemistry and reporting variances from standards.

3. Maintains swimming pool mechanical equipment (e.g., backwashing filters, pump equipment, etc.) to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.

4. Maintains records and checklists to provide an up-to-date reference trail of service and daily accomplishments, and reports variances from standards.

5. Assists in performing minor repairs to swimming pool equipment and facilities to keep in safe operating condition.

6. Participates in projects assigned by the Director of Engineering. This may include painting, basic plumbing and rough carpentry.

7. Participates in preparing facilities for seasonal uses including properly winterizing and de-winterizing the outdoor facilities.

8. Assists with set up and/or movement and care of equipment (e.g., starting blocks, benches, bleachers, etc.) to ensure availability for special events.

Decision Making Authority - Makes decisions necessary for maintaining the pool water in a safe condition as required by State Code.

Required Education/ Knowledge:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

College degree or the equivalent life-time experience is preferred.

Current Certified Pool Operator certification is preferred.

Specific Skills Required:

Clear, Concise Verbal and Written Communication

Use of Simple Hand and Power Tools

Basic Plumbing and Electrical Skills

The ability to multi-task

Physical Performance Requirements:

Ability to safely lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.

Safe use of a step ladder, extension ladder, and sky lift.

Safe use of pool treatment chemicals including their handling and storage.

Must be a competent deep-water swimmer capable of self-rescue even if fully clothed.

Other Job Requirements:

While the work week is defined as 40 hours, you may be required to work a non-standard work week including weekends, holidays, and day or evening shifts.

The employee in this position is an at will employee. This Position Description may be modified at any time to best meet the needs of Worthington Pools.

Hiring Pay Range:

Annual Salary of $50,000 - $55,000 + A benefit package.
