The City of Scott City is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. KLETC certification is preferred but all qualified applicants will be considered. Applicants must be committed to public service, assisting our citizens, willing to participate in community events, traffic control, investigation/solving crimes. Must be self-motivated and willing to assist other agencies as needed. Scott City is located in western Kansas and the Police Department is well funded and strongly supports additional training with a generous budget. Scott City is home to 4,200 citizens and we provide 24/7 coverage to the city. We are 30 minutes to Garden City and 30 minutes to I-70.

Scott City strongly supports law enforcement and provides many new and updated amenities. Our schools recently underwent a $25 million dollar bond upgrade. Our hospital is new and very innovative. We have a brand new fitness center, several updated parks, Scott Lake State Park, and many other new amenities. Scott City was recently awarded the 8th Safest City in Kansas for 2022.

Scott City PD is comprised of nine officers, four dispatchers, and one administrative assistant. Our Department provides an opportunity to advance to positions such as Officer II, Sergeant, Detective, School Resource Officer and K-9 Handler. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

SALARY: Starting salary varies with experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be a legal US Citizen
Must possess a valid KS Driver's License
Have a High School diploma or GED
Possess good moral character
Cannot have any felony convictions
Cannot have serious misdemeanor convictions
No Brady/Giglio issues

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.59 - $26.56 per hour
