Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for the entire operation of the manufacturing plant. This includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and efficient maximization of production output at all times. The Plant Manager will develop processes that will maximize safety, quality, and productivity while ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Lead manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, facilities, continuous improvement, and planning functions to deliver business performance and best in class products and services to customers.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Drive performance and accountability. Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime. Create methods and metrics for measuring performance.
  • Commit to plant safety procedures
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
  • Create and lead a culture of continuous improvement including methods and tools, behaviors and problem solving
  • Lead new product introduction activities for the site including business, technical, and business process Oversight.
  • Develop annual financial plans to support continuous growth and cost improvements. This includes developing justifications and plans for investments in training, staffing, and capital equipment.
  • Coordinates and directs major projects such as expansion, acquisition and installation of equipment, major repairs, plant layout changes, etc.
  • Identify and Implement Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Meet and/or exceed Business Key Performance indicators.
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant.
  • Inspects plant floor and equipment to ensure that everything is working properly.

  • Demonstrates familiarity with basic Microsoft programs, such as Word and Excel.
  • Possesses physical strength necessary to conduct mild to heavy lifting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing procedures and engineering.
  • Maintains friendly but professional demeanor with subordinates.
  • Can respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.
  • Exhibits knowledge of proper handling of equipment and safety procedures.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to think creatively and innovatively to devise new production strategies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Some manager training expected prior to starts date.
  • Plant manager certification recommended.
