SEASONAL FIRE 135 PIC AC90

NorCal Aero and Mind Winder Aviation, both Part 135 Charter Companies, based in Northern California and Reno, Nevada, are opening their recruitment window for an Air Attack pilot for the 2023 fire season. You will be flying a Turbine Commander 690C (840) in support of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Aerial Firefighting mission.

Job duties include acting as PIC while carrying a USFS Air Tactical Group Supervisor (ATGS or "Air Attack") in the right seat. Most flight operations involve positioning and maneuvering the aircraft so the Air Attack can effectively coordinate and control traffic in a fire TFR. The fire season typically runs from May to November each year.

• Turbine experience, particularly in AC90 Turbo Commander Aircraft preferred.
• Previous 135 and/or fire experience highly valued.
• Pilot Experience Requirements.
• The PIC shall hold a valid FAA Commercial or higher Pilot certificate with a current instrument rating.

In addition, the Pilot shall also have logged flight time of at least:

• Total time: 1500
• Total Pilot-in-command: 1200
• Airplane Multi Engine Land PIC: 200
• Fixed wing PIC (preceding 12-months) : 100
• Cross Country: 500
• Operations in low level mountainous terrain*: 200
• Night: 100
• Instrument – actual: 50
• Instrument – simulated: 75

Preferred:

• Hours in Make & Model to be flown (AC90/690C/840): 25
• Hours in Make & Model to be flown (AC90/690C/840) within the preceding 60 days: 10

*Low level mountainous terrain is flight at 2500 feet AGL and below in terrain identified as mountainous in 14 CFR 95.11 and depicted in the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) Figure 5-6-2.

Each PIC shall, at the discretion of the USFS Contracting Officer, pass a Government evaluation checkride (not to exceed two hours) in the Make & Model to be flown.
