Job description
As Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, the physician is supported by the Quality and Safety Department (0.5 FTE) and will work closely with the antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist to direct the activities of the program at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware. They will be responsible to provide oversight for the development, performance, and effectiveness of the program. The Medical Director will oversee stewardship rounds with clinical services and unit leadership, development and implementation of clinical pathways and laboratory stewardship initiatives and program educational activities. They will also serve as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Infection Prevention and Control Committees. In addition, this position includes serving as an integral member of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, joining three physicians, a specialty nurse, and an administrative assistant. The clinical inpatient consultation service supports the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant program, the Solid Organ Transplant program, the Nemours Cardiac Center, General Pediatrics, multiple surgical services, and pediatric and neonatal ICUs. In the outpatient setting, our physicians see patients in the ambulatory care clinic as well as a multidisciplinary HIV clinic. The division also works closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team and Microbiology Laboratory. As an infectious disease attending and teaching faculty for Thomas Jefferson University-Sidney Kimmel Medical College, they will teach and supervise medical trainees at different levels including pediatric fellows, residents, and medical school students.

Successful applicants will be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and be eligible for an unrestricted Delaware medical license.
