JOB TITLE: PHYSICIAN/INTERNIST MD or DO
STATUS: PART-TIME / FULL-TIME, EXEMPT
DEPARTMENT: CLINIC
Salary: DOE
$5,000 Sign on Bonus and $5,000 Relocation Stipend

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Function as a Physician MD or DO in a team and mission-based setting to provide delivery of primary care to patients, including health promotion/maintenance, counseling and education, assessment, acute/chronic care, and consultation/collaboration with other health care professionals, and community resources. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.

Comply with organizational policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations including HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Ensure the efficient and effective flow of patients during scheduled clinics through joint planning and problem solving with clinic, office, contract and volunteer staff and other related duties as assigned. Protect the dignity, privacy and confidentiality of patients and their families, as well as co-workers and others. This position may be asked to work at other clinic sites as needed.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), if vacant, reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adheres to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
  • Obtains and records client's health history; performs comprehensive physical assessment (including biological, social and psychological needs) as part of a total physical examination.
  • Demonstrate substantial knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques.
  • Diagnoses, treats and plans appropriate health care for clients in the area of school-based health care, family planning, and primary care as appropriate; refers clients to specialty physicians and/or outside agencies as required.
  • Demonstrate skillful knowledge of medicine techniques and procedures, medical and lab equipment, testing procedures, medication.
  • Educate and inform patient of necessary treatment plan and any follow-up appointments.
  • Encourage preventative health measures including proper diet, rest and exercise.
  • Counsel patients about their health, providing advice about staying in good health, alleviating symptoms of chronic conditions, improving eating habits, and learning to break bad habits like smoking.
  • Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
  • Provides and prescribes medications within area of specialty.
  • Performs laboratory procedures and interprets lab test results.
  • Establishes and maintains client medical charts and other necessary records.
  • Advance and maintain personal knowledge base by pursuing continuing education in order to enhance professional competence.
  • Demonstrate skill in diagnostic procedures for diseases and the drug therapy needed for treatment of these medical conditions. Must be proficient in the use of medical and laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in the Clinical Quality Improvement and Quality Management meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisor and/or Senior Leadership Team.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal tactfully and patiently with clients, establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data, use initiative and judgment, maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies, professionals and citizen groups, perform and record total physical examinations.
  • Promote individual and organizational integrity by exhibiting ethical behavior to maintain high standards
  • Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to remain abreast with professional literature and current health care management trends and rules in FQCH regulation.
  • Performs any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine with Degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), a minimum of one year’s experience is desirable.
  • Completion of Accredited Residency.
  • Unrestricted License and Board Certified to practice medicine in State of Oregon.
  • Current DEA Certificate without restrictions.
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to be credentialed with Medicaid, Medicare, private and other insurance.

LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:
  • Licensed Physician; State Board Certified or Eligible; Fully Credentialed, and Insurability.
  • Current American Health Association (AHA) Provider Basic Life Support Card (BLS) within 2 months of hire and recertify prior to expiration date.

OFFICE:
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds. Exposed to sick people. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The company does not pay for dependent health care, but it is available should the employee choose to cover the cost.

  • 0 – 60 months of service = 144 hours per year/18 days
  • 61 – 120 months of service = 200 hours per year/25 days
  • 121+ months of service or more = 240 hours per year/30 days

Semi-Annual Retention bonus
  • Opportunity to earn up to 2% of your annual income twice per year as a bonus. One bonus will be given in November and the other in May. This will be (3) yes or no questions based on goals you make with your supervisor. There is an individual goal, a department goal, and a company goal.
