Physician Assistant – Surgical Services

Hospital-based position

NO weekends NO holidays

10 hr. shifts


CHPP - Surgery at West Islip has provided leaders to our community including Hospital Department Chairs in Surgery, members of Hospital Medical Boards, also Presidents of Medical Societies. Presidents of the American College of Surgeons on Long Island and Chairman in Quality Assurance, while always growing and adapting to serve the needs of the community.

The group now provides world-class state-of-the-art care in General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Vascular Surgery, with both open and minimally invasive techniques. Our group has stood the test of time.

Good Samaritan University Hospital recently broke ground on its Patient Care Pavilion. This 300,000 square foot addition will be located on the northeast portion of the campus and feature a 75-bay Emergency Department, 16 high-tech replacement operating rooms and 3 floors of private patient rooms. These expansion plans allow us to continue to provide the highest level of health care while accommodating the growing health care needs of our surrounding Long Island community.

The department of Surgery utilizes the Physician Assistants / PA's on the General Surgery service as a part of a multidisciplinary team providing advanced, high quality healthcare.

GSUH provides a full spectrum of surgical services including General Surgery, Urology, Plastics, ENT and Neurosurgery in which the Physician Assistant / PA is a valued member. The Physician Assistant will provide services to patients at the main hospital campus.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Physician Assistant - First and/or second assist in surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Approximately 90% OR time
  • Physician Assistant – Provide medical office coverage to Pre and Post OP patients.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant program
  • Board Certification and NYS licensure required
  • NCCPA certified
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • 2 years of experience preferred in the OR and surgical floor coverage
