Join the hospital trusted by Chicago’s Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as a Physical Therapy Assistant at our Harvey location.


The Physical Therapy Assistant
examines, tests and works to alleviate mechanical, physiological or developmental impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or other health and movement related conditions. Physical Therapy Assistants assess the ongoing effects of the interventions and communicate regularly with physical therapists to adjust the plan of care as needed. Knows, follows and actively supports the philosophy, mission and vision of Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and standard of care. Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Under the guidance of the physical therapist, recommends appropriate treatment intensity and discharge of patient when the individual no longer meets criteria for level of service, meets goals, reaches prior level of function or is no longer in need of/or benefiting from skilled intervention.
  • Complies with billing practices per department protocol.
  • Accountable for appropriate use of department and hospital resources.
  • Meets productivity standards as defined by the department.
  • Adheres to all hospital policies and Ingalls Memorial Hospital Standard of Care.
  • Utilizes resources appropriately and maintains equipment order to prolong working life.Supports and participates in LEAN organizational initiatives as directed.
  • Maintains an environment characterized by trust, acceptance, recognition and respect.
  • Strong patient advocate.
  • Actively supports the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital.
  • Meets core clinical competencies for level of care and completes annual competencies as per department.
  • Seeks educational opportunities to advance clinical skills; regularly attends department in-services, as appropriate.
  • Works with others to improve level of skills throughout the department.
  • Seeks and implements use of evidence based practice.
  • Documents results and recommendations, interdisciplinary communication per department protocol; documents skilled service and supports billing.
  • Demonstrates adherence to Ingalls Memorial Hospital performance standards of service in all interactions with all stakeholders.


Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Licensed, or eligible in the state of Illinois with Notification of Eligibility for examination.
  • Specific practice areas may require advanced certification or previous experience to address
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with other cultures or those with language or cognitive impairments.
  • Foreign graduates shall submit certification of passage of the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), and the Test of Spoken English, (TSE).

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's
