Responsibilities:
The Resident's role is to dispense, compound, label, store, and ensure the proper use of pharmaceutical preparations, contribute to the efficient operation of the department, direct the Pharmacy Technicians and advance the goals of Norton Healthcare. The Resident will complete rotation experiences as part of the residency program. The Resident will be required to complete all requirements of each rotation experience and will be evaluated on the rotational objectives. The Resident uses the principles of pharmaceutical care to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes for individual patients. The Resident may provide pharmacy-related education to pharmacists, technicians, other health care practitioners, and the public. It is expected that the Resident shall exercise appropriate judgment in all matters related to the medication use process for neonate/infant (birth to 1 year), pediatric (1-12 years), adolescent (12-18 years), adult (18-65), and geriatrics (over 65 years). This position requires a high level of cooperative interaction with Healthcare team members, Pharmacy management, Physicians, and patients. Work involves both standardized and non-standardized tasks requiring professional judgment, knowledge and skills. Problem solving and personal interaction skills are required to meet quality and clinical standards of care, while effectively utilizing resources. The resident is responsible for supporting the quality improvement process through professional development, performance monitoring, and indicator improvement. He/She assists the Pharmacy Department leadership to provide effective and efficient use of all resources and for ensuring budget and value proposition targets are met. The resident demonstrates the ability to mentor pharmacy students providing patient care, treatment and services as part of their training. The pharmacy resident will be held to all policies and procedures of Norton Healthcare. In addition, as a participant in the residency program, they will be held to the following: - The duration of the residency is one year (12 months). - Completion of all rotation experiences and tasks associated with each. - Resident will be expected to meet deadlines presented at initiation of the residency and as set forth during the course of year. Failure to do so can result in termination (see Dismissal Policy). - Vacation/Sick Time (Flextime) will be accrued based on Norton Healthcare Policy and Procedure. Vacation requests will be submitted to the Residency Program Director for Review and Approval a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the date(s) requested. - Personal Professional liability insurance is not required. The resident as well as other employed healthcare professionals at Norton Healthcare are covered under the overall liability umbrella of the organization. - Dismissal from the program can be implemented based on Norton Healthcare Policy and Procedure AND for reasons outlined in the Residency Dismissal Policy given to the resident during orientation. - The resident will follow professional, family and sick leave policies for Norton Healthcare with the understanding that goals and objectives of the residency must be met and lack of completion can result in failure to receive Residency Certificate.

Required:
  • Bachelor Degree Pharmacy
  • Pharmacist (KY) - Must obtain Pharmacist (PH) credential within 60 days of hire.
