Beyond is looking to add a Petroleum Engineer / Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Engineer to our team. Reporting into the Engineering Manager, this position will be based out of our Anchorage, Alaska Office.

About the Role
You will be responsible for for providing engineering support, engineering well design, and technical well modeling from the office.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing quick look assessments for potential new clients, analyzing the appropriate application of Beyond Energy’s MPD equipment and expertise to each specific well or drilling campaign.
  • Creating MPD programs, leveraging MPD knowledge and modeling wellbore hydraulics to incorporate MPD operations into client drilling programs and well designs for narrow window wells, sour wells, wells with sensitive formations, and performance drilling applications.
  • Specifying appropriate MPD equipment and operations that adhere to client design parameters, assisting clients in achieving well objectives.
  • Interfacing regularly with client engineers, superintendents, field staff, and third-party services.
  • Providing ongoing engineering and operations support, monitoring real-time operations to ensure adherence to the MPD program, updating modeling as required, maintaining field reporting documentation, and generating engineering reports.
  • Technically inclined to provide engineering solutions daily and a close attention to detail in the engineering work provided.
  • Initial training and guidance will be provided, but the engineer is expected to be able to handle different projects independently.
  • Facilitating after-action reviews with clients, producing end-of-well/pad reports to capture lessons learned and best practices.
  • Schedule flexibility as meeting customer drilling schedules and providing after-hours engineering support is necessary.
  • Travelling to customers’ locations and field support of ongoing operations as needed.
  • Working with management to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the engineering department and company.
  • Exemplify the corporate B.E.S.T P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S in all aspects of their work.
  • Living in Anchorage, Alaska or willing to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska.
  • Schedule flexibility is necessary to meet customer drilling schedules and provide after-hours engineering support as well as travel to customers’ locations and field support of ongoing operations as needed.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, or Industrial preferred).
  • 3-5+ years of direct MPD or Drilling Engineering Experience.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills.

Additionally, the following would be preferred, but not required:

  • Proficient in Excel with knowledge in Visual Basic and the ability to write macros.
  • Well Control, H2S Alive, First Aid, and other applicable safety/field tickets.
  • Drilling & Completions field experience.
  • Completion of (F.E.) Fundamentals Exam
