The Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a PERL Coordinator. Boulder County Community Services Community Action Program (CAP) is hiring a PERL (People Engaged in Raising leaders) Program Coordinator. CAP advocates for and organizes programs that foster self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and people of color with low-income. Under the supervision of the Community Action Program Manager, this position will prepare underrepresented communities to take leadership positions on administrative boards and commissions. The PERL Coordinator will offer workshops through Creating Connections for executive directors and board members of non-profit organizations on strategies for board diversification, recruitment, and how to support existing board members. The position will also lead ongoing development of leadership sessions for participants of the Youth Leadership Academy (YLA). The PERL Coordinator will also oversee the management of the CAP Administrative Board.

This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday – Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work out of Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $55,956 - $68,220 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:


  • First Round Interviews: June 13th
  • Second Round Interviews: June 20th
  • Reference Check: June 20th

Examples of Duties

  • Coordinates and oversees the management of PERL’s programming
  • Manages and maintains material for Boards and Commissions programming, Creating Connections Conversations, and YLA
  • Develop working relationship with local stakeholders, government entities, existing Boulder County administrative boards and non-profit organizations
  • Data collection management and analysis for the Colorado Services Block Grant (CSBG) reports and CAP’s Annual Report
  • Organize, prepare, and host CAP’s monthly Administrative Board meetings
  • Have an awareness of multicultural dynamics, values, and communication styles
  • Perform related duties as required
  • May be reassigned in case of emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a 6 years of experience in the area of training and program development.

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license

Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Training and Development, Education, Instructional Design and two years of experience in a related program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, community partners, and the public while demonstrating integrity, respect, and collaboration
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and effectively communicate it to a wide range of audiences
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills and ability to effectively exercise these skills in group and individual settings
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to use standard computer software (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
