Job Description:

  • The High-Performance Computing Engineer is responsible for participating in writing high performance or parallel programs, contributing computer architecture knowledge and experience with multiple parallel programming models and hardware accelerators.
  • The High-Performance Computing Engineer assesses systems performance and proposes improvement solutions.

Job Overview

  • Seismic imaging is an extremely computationally demanding task, and achieving top levels of performance with our production codes on the latest HPC platforms is critical for our business success.
  • We are looking for a talented and creative HPC developer with proven skills, who can work with our industry-leading team of geoscientists, mathematicians and engineers to squeeze every drop of price-performance out of the latest HPC platforms.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implement computationally intensive imaging algorithms on the latest available HPC platforms, redesigning the software architecture as hardware trends evolve and we move to higher-fidelity methods
  • Profile imaging codes to find and eliminate current performance bottlenecks
  • Evaluate and help make decisions on hardware choices
  • Work with cloud vendors to ensure available node shapes are tuned for our applications
  • Work with other members of the R&D team to develop new algorithms in seismic imaging, inversion and model building, adapt recent innovations from computing technology, applied mathematics

Requirements

  • Proven experience programming for high performance computing environments using C++ and CUDA, including parallel computing, performance profiling and CPU/GPU optimization.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in HPC architecture
  • MS in Computer Science/Computational Physics/Applied Math or equivalent knowledge level.
  • Strong background in applied mathematics/physics, especially in numerical methods and linear algebra
