We are currently hiring for a Per diem X-ray Techologist to work in our North Division Orthopedics offices, (Medford, Moorestown, Voorhees).
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The X Ray Tech is responsible for performing radiographic imaging including but not limited fluoroscopy as requested by physicians in a medical office setting. This position will have access to protected health information (PHI) pertaining to patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares patients for radiological procedures and performs X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Performs all radiographic imaging including but not limited to fluoroscopy as ordered by a physician.
  • Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by physicians.
  • Protect patients, self and staff from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceed recommended industry standards.
  • Develop and process radiological film.
  • Works closely with physicians to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
  • Request, retrieve and track films to and from other departments or centers.
  • Adheres to equipment standards and care.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Follows quality assurance guidelines.
  • Reviews paperwork and explains testing to the patient.
  • Logs radiology procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using appropriate systems as directed.
  • Manage time effectively to complete all patient testing and related activities as assigned.
  • Maintains an orderly and professional exam room. Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies.
  • Reports to work properly dressed according to the approved dress code.
  • Respect patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned by manager.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform X-ray testing.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
  • Skill in properly positioning patients.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with medical staff, patients, and the public.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and organizational policies to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of examination and diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of radiological equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in documenting and maintaining patient care records.
  • Skill in following medical quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and other staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of computers and database/word processing/spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to take regular direction from physicians.
  • Flexibility in working hours to handle variation in the inflow of patients and the needs of the department.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Radiology license issued by the State of New Jersey.
  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Clinical office setting with high volume of patients.
  • Fast paced environment. Constant interaction with physicians and patients.
  • May be occasional lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to assist patients with standing, sitting and getting on examination table.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients at times.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying supplies, squatting, and bending.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to view computer screens for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand, pivot & walk frequently throughout the work day.
