Hopewell Health Centers is a nationally accredited federally qualified health and community mental health center with 23 sites across TEN counties throughout Southeastern Ohio (Athens, Franklin, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Ross, Vinton, and Washington). We are currently seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our Athens, OH Behavioral Health team.
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will be responsible to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement and monitor treatment for individuals being served within the out-patient and/or residential multidisciplinary healthcare team. Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, compliance with the healthcare registry, involvement and engagement with wellness services and engagements with primary care. Maintains appropriate professional standards and provides appropriate follow-up for consumers.
Since this is a PEER role, we are looking for individuals with lived experience with a mental health disorder or substance abuse (preferably both).
**This position requires you to work with individuals in our Respite unit located in Athens as well as our Adult Group Home located in The Plains.**
What do we look for in our Peer Support Specialists??
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- Eligible to become Certified Peer Supporter (CPS) in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, exhibits enthusiasm, respect, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
- Demonstrates ways to become empowered and self-responsible.
- Demonstrates ability to work with consumers with diverse backgrounds and knowledge of recovery-based concepts with a personal history as a consumer of Behavioral Health Services.
- A valid driver's license, good driving record and vehicle suitable for transportation.
