Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a PCB Designer in Lynnwood, WA.

Job Summary:
Senior Designers work with Engineers to analyze engineering design specifications and customer requirements. They participate in the design of new products, support fabrication of new products, and assist with resolving manufacturing problems of mature products. Senior Designers are responsible for producing completely documented work packages, creating engineering change orders, incorporating drawing changes, and assuring the integrity and accuracy of product documentation.

This position is eligible for our Crane Flex Hybrid schedule which allows for the option of up to 2 days/week of work-from-home. Some conditions apply which will be discussed during the interview process. Full policy to be provided after hire.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform lead design functions from beginning to end on new product development
  • Plan and organize complete drawing packages for design projects
  • Prepare drawings to a high degree of specialization in electrical, or electro-mechanical types
  • Create engineering change orders and perform associated documentation package revisions
  • Support and understand drawing schematics, 3D packaging design of power electronics, and 2D packing of circuit card layouts (electrical and layout specialization)
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Check and evaluate materials and components selected
  • Utilize current techniques and maintain a working knowledge of governing industry practices, government standards and specifications, IPC standards, and CRANE procedures
  • Review sketches, layouts, engineering circuit and mechanical designs, customer requirements and specifications
  • Make tooling and production fixture design decisions to provide optimized aids for product fabrication
  • Perform or assist with selection and procurement of materials and purchased custom and/or off-the-shelf parts
  • Coordinate with engineers and other personnel necessary to ensure correct designs, preparation and release of drawings, and timely deliveries to support a project
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Train and review the work of less experienced personnel
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of electro-mechanical or printed wiring board design. Proficiency with industry standard tools for schematic capture and PWB layout (ex. PADS, Pantheon) and 3D CAD modeling (ex. Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo) and 2D drawing (ex. AutoCAD). Aerospace or Electronics experience preferred.
    • Experience with high power/high current design nice to have
  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and written work instructions. Proficiency with industry drawing standards (ex. ASME, GD&T). Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan and organize complete drawing packages for design projects. Ability to check materials and components selected. Ability to create complex designs with strong attention to detail. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks. Strong time management skills and the ability to work to assigned due dates. Ability to present on technical subjects. Ability to teach Designer skills to other personnel.
  • Education/Certification: AA degree in technically-oriented discipline (Engineering Technology, Math, CAD, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline preferred
  • IPC CID or CID+ preferred
  • Formal training in CAD tool usage preferred
  • Software tool certification recommended

Salary range: $73,216 to $128,772. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
