Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will support the company’s payroll processes, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Manage the payroll processing of multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls groups including Collective Bargaining Agreements; posting data and ensuring the payroll is in full compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Ensure employee payroll is processed accurately and timely.
  • Review weekly payroll reports for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), as necessary to ensure complete compliance in setting up various system.
  • Maintain payroll system updates and ensure it is accurate.
  • Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in payroll accounting, transactions, reporting, stop payments and other operations.
  • Oversee salary changes, compensations, deductions, bonus, and vacations payouts.
  • Process final checks for voluntary/involuntary separations.
  • Provide training and mentoring to team members; facilitates training at local level as needed.
  • Assist in payroll and timesheet audit process.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with payroll issues, requests for payroll information on a regular basis. Reviews payroll issues/discrepancies and processes necessary corrections. Must comply with the regulatory standards and policies and procedures of payroll.
  • Provide technical expertise and respond to payroll inquiries related to interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations as well as Union Contracts.
  • Implements processes to streamline payroll function.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED with 1+ years of payroll experience. NOTE: This position prepares payroll for processing, the position will not process payroll.
  • Knowledge and experience with federal, local, and state payroll laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, attention to detail.
  • Organized, able to prioritize duties and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance & Accounting
  • Kronos Timekeeping System.
  • Experience in a Union environment.
