Job description

Our client is an established marine canvas and upholstery shop celebrating 40 years in service with locations in Harrison Township, St. Clair Shores, MI and Marco Island, Florida. Services include fabricating new boat covers and enclosures through CAD design, framing, all types of canvas repairs, upholstery and other industrial sewing projects. The company also has a division in graphics and displays for boat shows and additional events.

The client is in need of a Pattern Maker for their facility located in Harrison Township.

Patternmakers are responsible for creating patterns that are used to produce a variety of products like upholstery in boats. These patterns may be used to create molds, templates or other tools that are used in the manufacturing process. Patternmakers must have an eye for detail and an understanding of how different materials behave under pressure. They also need to be able to work independently and take initiative when necessary.

Pattern Maker Job Duties

Pattern makers typically have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

• Creating patterns for canvas and upholstery that takes into account measurements and other specifications provided by the designer
• Measuring skills to create a pattern based on their measurements
• Creating a pattern based on an existing design
• Drafting and designing new designs using computer software programs
• Creating full scale mock-ups of the design to make sure it will fit properly
• Reviewing existing patterns to ensure that they are accurate and up to date
• Cutting fabric in order to create samples of new styles
• Checking the measurements of finished products to make sure they fit appropriately
• Working directly with industrial seamstresses

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
