What you can expect:

As a Patient Access Specialist, you are responsible for answering incoming requests for all of the Howard Brown offices, scheduling and confirming appointments, understanding insurance plans and taking very detailed messages for staff members.

How you will make an impact:

• Answers all incoming calls from clients, provides information and assistance, and politely navigates clients through the organization
• Understands and displays excellent customer service
• Uses de-escalation techniques to address the needs of callers
• Documents and makes changes as appropriate to a patient’s demographic information
• Schedules appointments for medical; behavioral health and dental providers
• Follows protocols to properly triage calls to individuals or departments
• Exhibits flexibility, sensitivity, and respect, maintaining a working relationship with all team members

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Spanish/English (All offers contingent upon successful passing of a language assessment)
• High school degree or GED
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• One or more years’ experience in Call Center/financial counseling setting
• Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances
• CPT and ICD-9 coding
