Job Description:

To provide support for the providers, staff and Care Coordination Supervisor. The Patient Access Representative works under the supervision of the Care Coordination Supervisor. This position greets patients, answers incoming phone calls, completes
initial referral screenings, schedules and confirms appointments, registers and updates patient information, provides resource information, and collects payment, when applicable. The Patient Access Representative also supports the Care Coordination Supervisor with additional assignments as needed.

Position Details

  • Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday (10:30 am - 7:00 pm) or Variable Weekdays (4 days; 9:00 am - 7:00 pm)
  • Full-time 40 hrs/weekly
  • Pay Range (updated): $17.29 - $23.69

Scope

As a Patient Access Representative you need to know how to:

  • Introduces and greets patient in a prompt and pleasant manner
  • Register patients in a prompt, pleasant manner; verify and record necessary demographic information
  • Express thoughts clearly and concisely (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Verify insurance and method of payment, collects fees, co-payment, and payments on account
  • Self Direct, motivate and function successfully in a team environment
  • Answers telephones, directs calls, takes clear and concise messages, provide information, and screen referrals as needed
  • Responsible for the complete and accurate gathering and system inputting of patient demographic, insurance, and financial information with regard to specific age of patients (adolescent, pediatric, or their surrogate decision makers)
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, distribute daily and updated schedules to providers and staff.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required


Preferred

  • 2 years of experience in outpatient or other healthcare environment, preferred
  • Experience with PC software applications in word processing, EPIC, Word, Excel, Google; preferred


Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
