Description

IBSS is seeking a Part Time Research Assistant to support the NOAA NMFS Senior Scientist for Ecosystem Management. The position will require tracking down and organizing literature, references and related documents, placing them in a bibliographic database, collating and synthesizing a wide array of topically-relevant information, appropriately inserting these references into various manuscripts and documents that the Senior Scientist will be working on and shall provide, and maintaining a general awareness of the topical literature.

Requirements:

• MUST possess B.S. in marine science, fisheries, ecosystems, or related scientific fields
• Master’s Degree preferred
• Demonstrated experience in the publication process
• Technical writing and editing experience would be beneficial but not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Procuring literature, references, and related documents from various scientific search databases (e.g. Web of Science).
• Organizing those documents in a bibliographic database (e.g. Zotero, Endnote, etc.).
• Collating and synthesizing a wide array of topically relevant information.
• Appropriately inserting references into various manuscripts and documents that the Senior Scientist will be working on and shall provide.
• Maintaining a general awareness of the topical literature.
• Providing a full reference list in select manuscripts.
• The opportunity for assisting in other aspects of manuscript preparation and publication could arise; thus technical writing and editing experience would be beneficial.
• Attend virtual meetings related to, and assist with Workshops and conferences; taking notes, setting up Google Polls, etc.
