The Parking Enforcement Representative is devoted to providing customer service and parking regulation enforcement. Incumbents provide semi-skilled work in patrolling and monitoring and assigned enforcement area. Work may include responding to customer requests; providing directions to lost customers; issuing citations for parking violations and booting vehicles for unpaid parking citations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrols and monitors assigned enforcement areas; issues parking citations for improperly parked vehicles; boots vehicles as required for unpaid parking citations.
  • Provides directions to the public for appropriate building or location needed; responds to routine questions or concerns; provides information related to parking procedures and ordinances.
  • Reviews and verifies information related to parking time allotment; monitors vehicles parked in excess of time limits and determines violation.
  • Organizes and maintains activity records, logs and citation-related documentation.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and inadequate lighting.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment.
