The Shelby location is Clearwater Paper’s newest consumer products facility, boasting two paper mills located on 400 acres with over 600 talented employees. We are proud to produce a variety of high-quality premium and ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Our state-of-the-art technology includes 10 converting lines, 54 laser-guided vehicles, and 2 paper machines producing large quantities at high speed. Shelby is a small-town community in North Carolina’s Piedmont region with proximity to bustling downtown Charlotte and the beautiful mountain village of Asheville. Shelby’s community of art, music, and government all take place in the Uptown Shelby historic district. Uptown Shelby is home to a large square, local businesses, and a variety of restaurants surrounding The Courthouse Square. The local pavilion hosts weekly Farmer’s Markets and weekend concerts. What you will do

• Unload material and products from incoming vehicles and distribute them to assigned locations.
• Ensure inventory is accurately tracked and managed.
• Assist with the unloading and working of broke rolls and cores
• Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
• Regularly inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance.
• Able to move and work efficiently in different areas of the Warehouse as needed.
• Align with Warehouse leadership on issues and discrepancies.
• Reset Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs) as needed.
• Handle Paper Machine daily production metrics
• Supply converting lines with parent rolls as needed
• Communicate with both Paper Machine and Converting on issues that may arise during shift
• Hold self and others to a high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, confine spaces, appropriate PPE)
• Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate the root cause
• Maintain a clean working environment by complying with procedures and housekeeping responsibilities. Perform daily lift blowdowns.
• Handle and stack parent rolls in a safe manner
• Visually inspect bays to prevent any leaning rolls within the facility
• Have knowledge of trailer LOTO procedures (trailer stands, glad hand locks, etc.)

What you will need

To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• 2+ years of experience working in a high-speed distribution environment preferred
• Forklift/Clamp truck certification preferred
• Knowledge of various Warehouse Management Systems preferred
• Internal candidates must have completed qualification levels 1-2, 3 preferred
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) required
• Ability to work quickly, ensuring each department has necessary product in a timely manner preferred
• Basic knowledge of Laser Guided Vehicles required
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
• Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for an entire 12-hour shift
• Able to lift, up to 40 lbs. frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs. occasionally, and over 50 lbs. minimally. When lifting 50 lbs. and above, the Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance
• Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid
• Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (Eye and ear protection, steel-toed shoes, face masks, etc.)
• Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays. Able to work overtime as needed

Example of a rotating shift schedule:
Day 1: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm
Day 2: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm
Day 3: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am
Day 4: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am
4 days off
