The Role
Reporting to the Packaging Development Manager, your role will be to develop innovative, sustainable and cost effective packaging for General Merchandise. As the packaging specialist, you will work closely with our worldwide sourcing teams and suppliers to identify and deliver creative solutions to support the business objectives. It will be your role to understand the packaging process end to end, managing critical path and identifying opportunities to work more efficiently.
- Provide expertise and support to Asda sourcing and supply chain teams to optimise both transit packaging and container shipping.
- Support the sustainability team in thinking creatively to meet ASDA sustainability targets
- Keeping in touch with packaging trends and developments, completing regular competitor evaluation and sharing findings with internal teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce packaging costs to enable Asda to remain commercially competitive
About You
- Have an IOP Diploma in Packaging Technology, and a minimum of 3 years proven packaging development experience
- You have broad knowledge of packaging materials, and experience working with transit packaging and shipping requirements is also preferable
- You are well organised and able to prioritise effectively and deliver to deadlines.
