Become an OSHA Recordkeeping, Compliance & Data Analytics Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be part of Edison Safety’s Data Analytics team, working to mitigate risk of serious injuries and fatalities and reduce all injuries enterprise-wide. The team is responsible for all aspects of master data management, safety trending, reporting and visualizations. The Senior Specialist is SCE’s designated OSHA recordkeeper and is responsible for managing the OSHA recordkeeping program and ensuring compliance with Federal and California OSHA regulations. In addition, this position identifies and analyzes trends and assists in other data management functions. The position collaborates regularly with peers, Workers’ Compensation representatives and management, supervisors across the enterprise, Edison Safety leadership, and OU clients at all levels.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Perform daily OSHA recordkeeping by monitoring all injury and illness cases, utilizing diaries in the Workers’ Compensation software system to stay organized

  • Determine OSHA classifications in accordance with regulations and letters of interpretation, and document basis for classifications

  • Stay abreast of changes in recordkeeping regulations and OSHA log maintenance, posting and reporting

  • Build relationships to successfully collaborate with Workers’ Compensation representatives and management on pertinent medical and case details, and supervisors across the company to obtain initial status or work restrictions of injured employees

  • Generate and validate accuracy of annual OSHA logs, and submit to OSHA

  • Coordinate annual 300A postings at all applicable SCE facilities by working with facility points of contact and managing task completion

  • Maintain process documentation and controls for OSHA recordkeeping program and perform triennial program assessment

  • Recommend improvements for system and process efficiencies

  • Educate leadership, from supervisors to executives, on OSHA regulations and procedures

  • Identify and analyze trends in injuries or case attributes

  • Perform quality control and assurance processes related to injury and incident data, as assigned, such as monitoring organizational changes to enable historical safety performance reporting by work group

  • Apply logic and analytical technique to data classification/grouping; perform some incident screening and categorizations (trend coding) in collaboration with primary screener, enabling data analysis and trending

  • Provide help desk support to employees and supervisors across the company as they interact with the incident management software system


Qualifications


The essentials

  • 5 years of experience in case management, data analysis and compliance

  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential data (such as HIPAA requirements)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Ability to navigate and learn claims and incident management software systems

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Experience in Workers Compensation, claims or other case management

  • Experience with OSHA recordkeeping

  • Training or experience with safety programs, OSHA standards, hazard mitigation, etc.

  • Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences

  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology as it relates to occupational injuries/illness

  • Ability to craft programmatic responses to identified adverse trends

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
